Description: | Let go of feeling like you are not a "good enough" Christian and find freedom in Christ by studying Paul’s letter to the Galatians in Breakthrough by Barb Roose. Have you ever felt that being a good Christian means you’ve got to follow a bunch of rules and measure up? If so, you aren’t alone! In this six-week Bible study of Galatians, Barb Roose shows us that even the believers in the early church struggled to let go of rule-keeping and performance in order to embrace God’s free gift of grace. In his letter to the Galatians, Paul pours out his heart and faith to set them straight, addressing so many of the same questions and problems we still face today, such as… - Who has led you to believe you have to follow rules to be right with God? - Why do you think you have to try to be perfect for God? - How do we stay free in Christ? If you’ve ever struggled with these questions or felt trapped by rules or religion, this study will provide a path to discover your freedom in Christ. Through this study women will learn to: - Stop trying to measure up and embrace God’s grace - Distinguish between lies and truth - Embrace God’s promise of freedom Components for this six-week Bible study, each available separately, include a Participant Workbook, a Leader Guide, and video sessions with six 25-minute segments (with closed captioning). Session Descriptions Week 1 In the video for week 1, Barb explores Galatians 1 and the message that the gospel sets us free from the prisons of our past, problems, and pain. She reminds us that the gospel is based on God’s perfect promises, not our performance. This good news of the gospel releases us to discover God’s great adventure of faith and purpose for our lives. Week 2 In the video for week 2, Barb explores Peter’s hypocrisy in Galatians 2, as well as Cornelius’ and Peter’s dreams, to help us consider that we cannot mess up God’s love for us. In other words, God’s love is not tied to our behavior. None of us is perfect, and God’s gospel of grace is for us all. Week 3 In the video for week 3, Barb discusses how conflict has plagued humanity throughout time, including the life of the church. Drawing from Jesus’s prayer in John 17 and Paul’s words in Galatians 3, Barb paints a beautiful picture of biblical justice and unity, reminding us that our freedom in Christ cannot be shaken or taken away by those who choose not to live like Christ. Week 4 In the video for week 4, Barb teaches from Galatians 4 as she encourages us to stop jumping through religious hoops, worrying that we’re not good enough for God, and instead embrace our freedom in Christ. Freedom in Christ is living free from fear and fully alive with joy and purpose. Week 5 In the week 5 video, Barb unpacks Galatians 5 as she explores how we live by Spirit instead of by the sinful nature. She encourages us to share our spiritual breakthrough moments with others as we recognize God’s work within us, receive what He’s doing, and respond to it. Week 6 In the week 6 video, Barb highlights Paul’s final words in his letter to the Galatians as she encourages us to be patient with the transformation process, acknowledge and celebrate our spiritual breakthroughs, and tell others about our breakthroughs as we give glory to God. She ends by reminding us that we are God’s beautiful, loveable, capable daughters who are confident in Christ and worthy of God’s best. |
