Description: This is a four-session, video-based small group Bible study focused on the life and writings of famous 20th century theologian, Dietrich Bonhoeffer whose ideas, theology, beliefs and practices helped transform an entire faith community in Germany during World War II. Using themes drawn from all of Bonhoeffer's major writings, Metaxas helps us understand why these spiritual truths meant so much to Bonhoeffer and how these same truths can inspire and challenge our Christian faith today. This study includes the following session topics:

1. What is the Church?
2. Living in Christian Community
3. Religionless Christianity
4. Come and Die

The study can be structured as a four-week group study with individual work in between sessions or as an 8 week study with more time spent on each of the lessons. The DVD and study guide contain all the content necessary for the group study, but if individuals want to get more depth out of this study they can also purchase the biography titled, Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy by Eric Metaxas and do the individual work sessions in between the group work. This would make an excellent intergenerational study for youth (high school and older), young adults, adults and seniors.

Excllent video and study! I highly recommend this. Per Barbara Adams of Pt. Hadlock Community UMC. July 2014
