Originally designed in 1968 for her third grade class in Iowa, Jane Elliott's simple racism awareness exercise shocked the nation with its demonstration of the devastating impact of discrimination and introduced the basic concept of diversity training. This video challenges a mixed-race group of about 40 people to confront the racism which persists in our society and to experience its effects personally. Elliott points out that sexism, homophobia and ageism can have similar effects on people. |
